Welcome to Frescolio! We are Winnipeg’s first extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting bar.
Our name comes from two Italian words – fresco (fresh) and olio (oil). Above all, we pride ourselves on having the freshest oils possible. We believe that cooking with the best ingredients should be easy and accessible.
To call an olive oil “extra-virgin”, there are several criteria that must be met. For instance, the oil must meet standards of production, chemical makeup, purity and taste. Every olive oil at Frescolio exceeds these criteria. We bring in oils from around the world, including Greece, Spain, Italy, Chile, and California. You’ll be impressed with our our products compare with grocery store brands.
Extra-virgin olive oil is known for its health benefits. For example, it contains no cholesterol, has high levels of antioxidants, and is high in mono-unsaturated fats.
True balsamic vinegars originate in one of two Italian provinces – Modena or Reggio Emilio. In addition, they are aged for up to 18 years.
The aging process of true balsamic vinegar is done in specific, traditional steps. As a result, a high-quality balsamic vinegar is produced. Balsamic vinegar can be used on its own, or paired with an extra-virgin olive oil.
